The paloma is a tart and refreshing tequila-based cocktail. Photo courtesy Vine Styles.

Sure, it might be Sunday, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop! And if you’re a tequila fan, then this paloma cocktail recipe that Calgary-based wine and liquor shop Vine Styles shared will help make the rest of your week smooth sailing! Vine Styles gave me permission to share the recipe below.

Here is the paloma cocktail recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Coarse salt
  • 1 grapefruit wedge (for garnish)
  • ¼ cup fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ cup tequila (Casamigos Reposado is recommended for this, but you can use your favourite brand of tequila or mescal)
  • ¼ cup club soda

Directions:

Pour salt onto a plate, rim the glass with the grapefruit wedge and dip it into salt.

Mix the grapefruit and the lime juice together, add sugar and stir until dissolved.

Add the tequila (or mescal if you prefer), ice and top with soda.

Garnish with the grapefruit wedge.

What it tastes like:

The paloma is a tart and refreshing cocktail and although the tequila is certainly present on the palate, it’s subtle and complex. Highly enjoyable on a hot summer afternoon!
