Microsoft announced Monday that the new XBOX One S will arrive in Canada on August 2.
The XBOX One S is 40 per cent smaller than the original XBOX One, has a built-in power supply and can play 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray titles – a first for a console gaming system (it can also stream 4K Ultra HD content from services like Netflix). It’s also slick white, a stark contrast from the original (and dull) black XBOX One.
Other features of the XBOX One S include a relocated sync button and USB port from the back to the front of the unit, an IR blaster and a new textured grip XBOX Wireless Controller, which has an improved signal and Bluetooth support.
The XBOX One S is compatible with all XBOX One games, accessories and XBOX Live services. A special limited 2TB launch edition will be available for $499.99 with a regular 1TB model retailing for $449.99 and a 500GB model retailing for $399.99.
The new XBOX Wireless Controller comes bundled with all XBOX One S models. It will also be available to be purchased separately for $74.99.
