Canadian cable, Internet and home phone service provider VMedia Inc. is now offering a live TV streaming service for Roku devices in Canada.

VMedia TV is a “skinny” package that offers subscribers 20 live HD channels, including CTV, CBC, Citytv and Global, along with American networks like CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX and PBS. Users can also watch shows they missed over the last week with VMedia’s cloud-based “look back” feature.

Canadians can try VMedia TV for seven days by registering directly through the Roku Store on a Roku player, such as the Roku 3, or on a Roku TV. The service costs $17.95 per month once the 7-day trial ends and customers can cancel anytime.

  1. The only problem is that it doesn’t work. I have been testing it for two days now and have been unable to watch a single tv show without buffering pauses and/or freezing every few minutes. Last night it never lasted up to 1 minute without breaking up, after 20 minutes I gave up and went back to my HD antenna.

I have a 30 megabits internet connection, my roku is wired to my router and all other roku apps work just fine so I know for sure that the problem is not on my side.

Internet TV sounds great, I have been wanting this for a long time but VMedia IPTV on Roku does not work, I am going to cancel it after only 2 days.

    • I have the same problem as yours ! I run on a 25/25 mega bit connection, and at first i tought it was because my roku was on the wifi, but even when it’s directly plugged in the router its always buffering ! Buffering 33% Buffering 33% Buffering 33% Buffering 33% This 7 days tv trial just convinced me to not sign up with them !
