Soul Surfer: Mini Review

Soul Surfer (Blu-ray) – The real story behind Soul Surfer is quite amazing: Bethany Hamilton was a 13-year-old girl with dreams of becoming a pro surfer when she was attacked by a shark and had her arm taken. She didn’t let it affect her life though and eventually went pro and inspired many people around the world. Unfortunately, the movie version of her life is poorly written and feels like a mockery of Bethany and her religious family. The surfing scenes are well produced, but the rest is quite boring and annoying to watch. AnnaSophia Robb, Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood, and Dennis Quaid star. The Blu-ray release features the documentary Heart of a Soul Surfer, deleted scenes, making-of featurettes, and more. A regular DVD is also included. *** Blu-ray *** (2.5 out of 5 stars).
